Skype has more VoIP traffic |
| A recent study has revealed that Skype has many VoIP traffic than any other VoIP company. According to the report, ninety-five percent of all the internet VoIP traffic is Skype. The research covered the major VoIP services and they include P2P traffic, video streaming, instant messaging and file hosting. The report is conducted over one million users from Australia, Eastern Europe, Germany, The Middle East and Southern Europe. There are differences like 30% of all monitored Internet users in Germany use Skype. In the Middle East, the number is 23%. SIP follows far behind with only 1% users in Germany and in the Middle East. The user numbers for H.323 and IAX are negligible. The study also revealed that, of the IP Telephony, VoIP is used by some 30 per cent of all users and Skype is by far the most popular. Skype's success could be attributed to its ability to get around restrictive network such as firewalling. Skype has many built-in mechanisms to automatically deal with such network conditions and to offer an as seamless as possible operation in most environments. |
