| Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP, is set to take off in 2008. The technology, which sends voice signals over a network in the same way as Internet traffic, carries potential cost benefits for firms currently paying heavy long-distance fees. Calling regional offices across the country or elsewhere in the world can incur heavy per-minute charges, whereas sending data to the other side of the world costs the same as sending it across the street. |
